A nice glass of wine with a touch of history. ‘With a history of wine dating back to 1740, you could say that we hold a special significance not only in Maastricht but throughout the Netherlands when it comes to high-class wines. The first wines were bottled here at the end of the 18th century, and we even have wines from the early 1900’s in stock. Our long history is still cherished by our team of wine experts. Our buyer, our sellers and our oenologist are specialists with years of experience in the wine trade, who possess both knowledge and enthusiasm. With their passion for wine, they inspire one another and the customer, which is what makes Thiessen unique. The monumental building that accommodates our wine shop underlines our long history. The original ancient vaulted cellar is the perfect location to store the wines. In recent years, we have renovated the premises and combined past and present in a refined manner. We apply modern techniques and have stylish rooms and facilities for tastings, parties, receptions, meetings and other events. At the same time, the wine shop still exudes history and we never lose sight of tradition.’
